Representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia had detained chief inspector of Shida Kartli Regional Division of the LEPL National Food Agency on the fact of abuse of official power.

Investigation determined that, in exchange for material benefit, the public officer was providing manager of "Farmers` House" LLC with information obtained in the course of performing official duties about upcoming inspections several days prior to the inspections. The aim of this action was to help the company avoid a potential fine. It was determined that the above-mentioned entrepreneur was carrying out the sale of a falsified agrochemical marketed under the name LUNA SENSATION, a product of BAYER, in the city of Gori.

Investigation is underway under the first part of the Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. We once again call on public officers and those who wish to engage in criminal transactions with them to refrain from such illegal activities. Any such activities will be met with a prompt and strict response by the Investigation Service.
