The Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates today, January 27, Ninooba, marking the death of Saint Nino, the 4th-century enlightener who brought Christianity to Georgia.

It is a major feast day featuring festive church services, notably honoring the saint who converted King Mirian and Queen Nana. Saint Nino is commemorated twice: January 27 (death) and June 1 (arrival in Georgia).

Special services are held in churches across Georgia, particularly at Bodbe Monastery (her burial place) and Sioni Cathedral.
