An alleged cyberattack and certain manipulations were carried out on the government administration website - SSSG has launched an investigation

The State Security Service of Georgia [SSSG] launched an investigation into acts of sabotage and unauthorised access to computer systems.

“The investigation was prompted by information received from the Government Administration indicating that its website had been the target of a suspected cyberattack, involving certain manipulations aimed at spreading false information publicly and harming Georgia’s national interests, including causing politically and economically damaging consequences for the country.

Following the alleged criminal activity, the issue began to be covered by various media outlets and social networks.

The SSSG responded immediately and, as a preventive measure to protect national interests, recommended that media representatives and certain individuals refrain from disseminating the information.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 318 and 284 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving sabotage and unauthorised access to computer systems”, - reads the statement.
