Officers of the Patrol Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi Police and Shida Kartli Police Departments have arrested 5 individuals at different times on charges of illegal purchase, storage, facilitation of sale and importation into Georgia of large and especially large quantities of narcotics, as well as psychotropic substances.

Among the arrested are both Georgian and foreign citizens.

During the personal search and search in residential apartments of the persons arrested on charges of drug crimes, as well as from the places indicated by them, law enforcement officers seized various types of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances as evidence, including: heroin, amphetamine, methadone, MDMA, cocaine, methamphetamine, dried marijuana and the psychotropic substance “pregabalin”.

An illegal firearm and ammunition were also seized from one of the detainees by the officers of the Patrol Police Department.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260 (4), 261, 262, and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisaging 20 years or life imprisonment.
