The Government of Georgia has established a governmental coordinating commission on food product prices, to be chaired by the Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze.
The relevant decree was approved at the Government`s meeting held on December, 30.
As Head of the Government Administration explained, the commission would include ministers from relevant sectors, representatives of the Government Administration, and the Competition Agency.
"During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke at length about price markups on food products and emphasized that this issue requires a more in-depth study, as price increases are often illogical and directly affect consumers. The governmental commission was created to ensure better coordination of this process", -added Levan Zhorzholiani.
