The National Environment Agency [NEA] has issued a warning that scattered precipitation, predominantly snow, is anticipated across Georgia.

“From December 27 to 31, cold and humid air masses will spread across Georgia, bringing intermittent precipitation, heavy in some areas, mainly falling as snow. Winds may pick up, and in mountainous regions, fog, blizzards, and ice on the roads are expected.

On December 29 and 30, coastal areas may experience thunderstorms, with storm strength reaching 4 - 6 points at sea. There is also a risk of avalanches in the high mountainous regions”, - says the NEA.

The agency advised that travel restrictions might be imposed on certain highways due to heavy snowfall, poor visibility, blizzards, ice, and avalanche risks.

“The expected precipitation could lead to a significant rise in water levels in the rivers of western Georgia, with a medium level of danger,” it added.
