The EU seeks to open a new front against Russia and is willing, as it was with Ukrainians, to send Georgians into the flames, said German MEP Ruth Firmenich in the European Parliament during the debates on Deepening Democratic Crisis in Georgia.

“What would happen in Brussels if a group of protestors violently stormed a government headquarters? How would you react if politicians from a former government party promised each police officer USD 200,000 to disobey orders and hold back against rioters? That is precisely what happened in Tbilisi, and this is celebrated here in this chamber. That beggars belief.

The EU is applying double standards to Georgia, and that stinks. This is not about rule of law, democracy, or human rights. It is plain and simple for geopolitical reasons. The aim is to bring about regime change in Georgia.
