Border Police detained 3 persons on the fact of preparing an illegal abduction of person by an organized group at the state border of Georgia

Employees of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service, as a result of jointly conducted operational-investigative actions, detained 3 persons.

Foreign citizens (E.Q. Born in 1977, M.U. Born in 1982 and S.Q. Born in 1975) attempted to illegally smuggle a person across the Georgian-Turkish State Border.

The employees of the Border Police, based on a judge’s ruling, conducted a controlled purchase of cash transferred to the defendants in preparation for illegal border crossing and secretly recorded the aforementioned fact on audio-video. As a result of a personal search of the detainees, law enforcement officers seized the money transferred during the controlled purchase as evidence.

As a result of a personal search of the detainees, law enforcement officers seized the money transferred during the controlled purchase as the evidence. The investigation is ongoing under the Article 18-25-344, Part I, of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies the imprisonment up to 5 years.
