Today, 762 internally displaced families received fully renovated new apartments on Tvalchrelidze Street in Tbilisi. As noted by Prime Minister of Georgia in his speech at the ceremony, the process of providing housing for IDPs continues and by next spring - when the residential complex is fully completed - a total of 2426 IDP families will be living on Tvalchrelidze Street.

Irakli Kobakhidze underlined the scale of the project, valued at 255 million GEL and expressed gratitude to Anagi construction company as well as all engineers and builders involved.

"We all remember a time when state policy toward IDPs was unfair and, moreover, often degrading. We remember the period when IDPs were forcibly evicted and when the construction of housing for them in Tbilisi was entirely prohibited. We ended this harmful practice. From the moment the Georgian Dream came to power, caring for you became one of the government"s top priorities.
Our approach is clear: until every displaced family returns to its own home, the state must ensure dignified living conditions for each of you. And here are the tangible results of this policy: before 2012, only about 19 000 families received housing; since 2012, we have doubled this number and more than 42 000 families have already received new apartments.
Meanwhile, the House in a Village program is progressing successfully - over 13 000 families have already acquired private houses with land plots, including over 2400 families who did so just this year.
The difference is even more striking financially: in 2012, state budget funding for this cause was only 25 million GEL; by 2025, it has increased almost tenfold, reaching 240 million GEL", - added the Prime Minister.

He also emphasized that large-scale construction works are underway across the country and in the near future, an additional 2700 families in Rustavi, Zugdidi and Borjomi will receive apartments.

"Our ultimate goal is that in the coming years, there will no longer be a single dilapidated, so-called compact settlement in Georgia. Together with the Minister of Health and the Ministry, we are working actively on a new program that will accelerate the resettlement process.
Our approach is comprehensive - we are not merely constructing houses or walls; we are creating a comprehensive living environment with parks, stadiums and playgrounds, so that you and your children can live in a healthy and comfortable setting.
At the same time, we never forget the most important thing - our overarching dream and mission is to return to our Abkhazia and Samachablo, to return to our own homes", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection Mikheil Sarjveladze also congratulated the families on receiving their apartments. The Prime Minister of Georgia symbolically handed over the keys of the new home to the Mgebrishvili family.
