For centuries, Azerbaijan and Georgia developed along the Silk Road and played the role of a bridge connecting Europe with Asia, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the ongoing Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi.
"Every year, Tbilisi becomes even more impressive; the city is growing and developing, and the progress compared to last year is remarkable. The theme of this year`s forum is of great importance. Over the past few years, this forum has become a prestigious international platform for exchanging ideas on regional and global issues and agendas.
Recent developments, particularly the challenges affecting economic cooperation and transport, highlight the significance of this gathering.
Azerbaijan and Georgia had historically developed along the Silk Road, serving as a bridge connecting the West and the East, contributing to the region`s growth.
"Azerbaijan and Georgia today play a leading role in enhancing these priorities, strengthening regional cooperation, and reviving our historical mission in a new format and configuration.
The new transport and logistics routes will connect Europe and Asia along the Eurasian corridor. Over the years, the friendly and strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan has become a key factor for stability and peace in the region… Our countries are now trusted partners, not only politically but also in economic cooperation, energy, and transport sectors. Transport and transit have traditionally been one of the most important aspects of our agenda. This sector holds great potential for growth, trade expansion, investment, and the opening of new economic opportunities", - said Ali Asadov.
