This was an expression of unprecedented support for Georgia from the international community - Lasha Darsalia on the resolution adopted on Georgia in Geneva

The British Embassy in Georgia has issued a statement on the UK’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The statement also quotes the UK’s Minister of State for Europe, who said that “the occupation of Georgian territories must end and Russia must withdraw its military forces”.

The resolution on “Cooperation with Georgia” was adopted by consensus for the first time at the UN Human Rights Council. The document highlights the human rights violations and humanitarian problems resulting from Russia’s occupation of Georgian territories.

“This resolution was adopted by consensus for the first time since 2017, after they referred Georgia to the Human Rights Council. This was an expression of the growing and unprecedented support for Georgia from the international community, which is especially appreciated in the modern turbulent world.

Here, I would like to emphasize the great work done by the Government of Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Geneva, as a result of which this success became possible”, - said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia.
