As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the West Georgia Prosecutor’s Office detained an employee of LEPL National Food Agency - veterinarian L.K. on the fact of bribe-taking.
Investigation determined that the accused person worked as a veterinarian at the LEPL National Food Agency and, among other duties, was responsible for free distribution of so-called ear tags necessary for the registration and identification of livestock within one of the administrative units.
Investigation also established that, in order to receive personal illegal material gains and benefits, L.K. demanded and took a total of GEL 650 as a bribe from one of the interested persons on multiple occasions, in exchange for the identification and registration of unregistered livestock purchased from another administrative unit, without following the relevant procedures established by the state. As a result of measures carried out, the part of the money taken as a bribe, had been seized.
Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type of sentence, envisages imprisonment from six to nine years. Investigation Service will continue to implement a strict criminal justice policy against crimes committed in the financial-economic sphere.
