Two persons detained in Marneuli for exchanging a large amount of counterfeit money

As a result of the conducted operational measures and investigative actions, the employees of Marneuli Police Division under Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, arrested 2 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan - J.M., born in 1966, and M.M., born in 1993, on the fact of exchanging a large amount of counterfeit money by a group with a prior agreement.

The committed crime envisions the imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years.

The investigation established that the defendants exchanged 7 counterfeit 500-euro banknotes in a currency exchange booth located in the vicinity of the Tsiteli Khidi customs checkpoint.

Law enforcement officers seized the counterfeit banknotes as evidence. The investigation is in progress under Article 212, part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
