Anti-Corruption Bureau launches investigation into Mamuka Khazaradze’s asset declaration over rental agreement with German Ambassador
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has initiated an examination of Mamuka Khazaradze’s [leader of “Lelo” party] asset declaration in connection with a rental agreement with German Ambassador.
According to the agency`s statement, it was monitoring Khazaradze’s declaration to verify the accuracy of the information presented and ensure it complies with Georgian law.
"It is of special interest to determine the reasons why this agreement signed between a member of Mamuka Khazaradze`s family and the German Ambassador was not reflected in the declaration. It is important to assess whether the non-disclosure of the contract was intentional, whether it was related to an attempt to conceal income, and to what extent this action complies with the legal obligations defined by Georgian law
Circumstances related to donations declared by Khazaradze are being examined to create a complete picture regarding potential political corruption risks.
Besides, Bureau continues permanent monitoring of political parties` financial activities, which includes assessing the legality of donations. According to the existing information, Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to Georgia, is renting an apartment from the family of Mamuka Khazaradze.
