As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Investigation Department of Adjara Main Division under the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Main Division for Border Management and Coordination, E.P., born in 1995, was arrested at the Batumi Port on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a large amount of psychotropic substances and illegal importation into Georgia.

The committed crime envisions up to 7 years of imprisonment.

Law enforcement officers detained E.P., a member of the crew of one of the ships that entered Georgia through Batumi Port, currently detained as a defendant. As a result of the inspection of the mentioned person and belongings, 861 pills of psychotropic substances were seized as evidence.

The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase and storage of large quantities of psychotropic substances and illegal import into Georgia is in progress under Articles 261 and 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
