Prosecutor’s Office has charged 34 individuals with the illegal purchase, storage and sale of large and especially large amounts of narcotics

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged 34 individuals with the facts of illegal acquisition, storage and sale of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs.

“The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the detained individuals illegally acquired and stored various types and quantities of narcotic drugs, including large and especially large quantities, which they were selling.

As a result of the measures taken, the following narcotic drugs were seized: “Heroin”; “Methadone”; “Alphapevepe”; “Tramadol”; “Clephedrol”; “Mephedrone”; “Morphine”; “Buprenorphine”, “Methamphetamine”, “Ecstasy” pills, “Dried Marijuana”; “Cannabis” plant containing narcotic drugs, and the psychotropic substance “Ketamine”. As a result of the search of the two defendants’ residence, unregistered firearms and ammunition were also seized.

The detainees are charged for “illegal sale of a large amount of narcotic drugs”, “illegal sale of a narcotic drug by a group with prior agreement”, “illegal sale of a narcotic drug by a person convicted of a drug crime”, “illegal sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs by a convicted person”, “illegal planting, growing, cultivation of a plant containing a narcotic substance in a particularly large amount by a convicted person”, “illegal purchase and possession of narcotic drugs repeatedly, in large and especially large quantities”, “illegal sale of the narcotic drug “marijuana””, “illegal purchase and possession of psychotropic substances”, “illegal sale of psychotropic substances”, “illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition”, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as the form and extent of punishment.

The Prosecutor’s Office has already applied to the court with a request to impose imprisonment as a preventive measure on the defendants. Some of the defendants have already been sentenced to imprisonment, while the court will consider the preventive measure against the rest within the time limit established by law.
