Prime Minister of Georgia underscored the pivotal role of economic development in strengthening the nation during his annual address to the Parliament.
As he said, economy was “the primary driving force behind the country’s progress, essential for improving the social well-being of its population, bolstering its democratic system, and solidifying its foreign policy standing”.
“Georgia’s economy had grown by 9.4% in 2024, continuing the positive trend observed since 2021. In 2025, economic growth in January-April also amounted to 8.8%, meaning we are maintaining a high growth rate this year as well. Preliminary data for May is also very positive. We are confident not only in meeting but also exceeding the target outlined in the budget.
The International Monetary Fund had revised Georgia’s 2025 economic growth forecast upward to 7.2%, and his Government considered even stronger performance to be realistic… We are seeing very good trends - last year we had high economic growth, the same applies this year. The key is to do everything necessary to sustain this growth momentum”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
