Brussels must cease justifying politically motivated crimes and interfering in the country’s justice system - Papuashvili

Brussels must cease justifying politically motivated crimes and interfering in the country’s justice system, writes the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament on the social network.

“It is unfortunate that Brussels fails to take into account the lessons of the past - lessons from cases like those of [Mikheil] Saakashvili, [Nika] Melia, [Nika] Gvaramia, Rustavi 2, and others, where the Strasbourg Court consistently exposed the injustice of such interference.

If EU bureaucrats and politicians are truly committed to European values, they should have apologised to the Georgian people after each of the European Court of Human Rights’ rulings.

Instead of offering apologies, we continue to witness unjust attacks against the Georgian state and a repetition of the same vicious cycle”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
