A series of attacks on the Georgian state from Brussels is a regrettable trend in recent times, writes Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

"Yesterday, we witnessed a whole series of attacks from Brussels against the Georgian state, which, in recent times, has unfortunately become a trend.

Such attacks are especially alarming given that propaganda and disinformation, hate campaigns, political persecution, extremism, and efforts to dismantle democratic institutions are being demonstrably funded from EU and member state budgets.

Instead of addressing these legitimate and fact-based questions, the Georgian people received politically motivated attacks that contradicted the EU`s declared values.

It is important that Brussels returns to the EU`s foundational values - respect for human rights and the rule of law. Rather than evading questions, every donor must act responsibly and respond transparently to legitimate concerns", - writes Shalva Papuashvili on his Facebook page.
