I would like to thank Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri for serving the state faithfully and with dignity all these years, the Prime Minister of Georgia said at a briefing held at the Government Administration, where he introduced the new minister.
“Today, Vakhtang Gomelauri resigned from the post of Minister of Internal Affairs. He made this decision himself. He addressed us with the relevant request a few days ago.
It was very disappointing for us, but everyone, including me, understood his decision. For more than ten years, he was the Minister of Internal Affairs, Head of the State Security Service, and Vice Prime Minister of Georgia. Of course, this is not an easy task, it requires a lot of energy, and therefore, he made the decision to resign, addressed us with the relevant request, and we satisfied this request.
I would like to thank Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri for serving the state faithfully and with dignity all these years.
You all remember that he took over the position of Minister in very difficult circumstances, although he was able to make changes in the Ministry very soon and throughout all these years he has been performing his functions as the Minister of Internal Affairs in a highly professional manner, serving to ensure the public security of our country.
I would also like to separately note that over the past 4 years, Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri has made a special contribution to the suppression of four attempts at revolution. His merit here is special and for this he deserves special thanks. Mr. Vakhtang is a special person, I would like to wish him success in his future activities”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
