Georgian Defence Minister participates Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting in Brussels

Irakli Chikovani, Georgian Minister of Defence, participated in the 27th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, held in Ramstein format at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

The high-level meeting brought together defence ministers and senior officials from NATO member and partner countries.

Session was co-hosted by the UK’s Secretary of Defence John Healey and Germany’s Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius.

Participants reviewed the current situation on the ground in Ukraine and discussed the urgent need for continued military assistance and support for Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing aggression.

The Ramstein format was created after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In April 2022, then US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin gathered the allies at the US air base in Ramstein, Germany, where they first agreed on further military support for Kyiv. From February 13, 2025, it will be coordinated by the United Kingdom together with Germany.
