Speaker of the Georgian Parliament strongly criticized international donors for remaining silent in the wake of what he described as a “disgraceful act of violence” committed by several NGOs on Rustaveli Avenue during the April 9 commemoration.

“Two days have passed since several NGOs committed an appalling act of violence on Rustaveli Avenue. Modern-day Rodionovs armed with tongues sharpened by hatred blocked April 9th participants at the memorial, those who wanted to pay respects to people who perished on that day.

For the 2nd day, the donors of these NGOs have trampled one of our most sacred days.

For the 2nd day, they don’t consider Georgian society and those attacked on Rustaveli Avenue worthy of a response, condemnation, or disavowal”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
