The Prime Minister of Georgia said Pascal Allizard, the Special Coordinator of the OSCE, had highlighted that Georgia’s parliamentary elections had offered citizens a “wide choice” and had been “well-administered”, with candidates having the opportunity to campaign “freely”, in a letter sent to Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.

“This letter is another proof that the elections were recognised, conducted properly, and all speculation over irregularities in the vote are baseless. It is very important that these elections are properly assessed and recognised by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE observation mission.

The OSCE/ODIHR is the target of a particular attack from the opposition. This attack began even before the elections and has continued since. The main reason is that the OSCE/ODIHR, which is the main observation mission that monitored our parliamentary elections, assessed these elections as competitive.

On the backdrop of these attacks, it is particularly gratifying that today the Head of the OSCE election observation mission, Pascal Allizard, addressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, with the following [words in the] letter: ‘After the first session of the newly elected Parliament of Georgia, we are writing to you regarding our future cooperation.

The letter had also highlighted the competitive nature of the elections. It also discusses certain critical remarks about the elections. The certain critical remarks list items as follows: issues related to pressure on voters and financial inequality, inadequate representation of women in party lists, and so on.

The topic that the opposition had concerned themselves with was the so-called leak issue… This issue is not mentioned at all in this letter due to the fact that in reality, this issue was not relevant at all”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
