It is a great honor to stand here today and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Tbilisi Metro together with you, Speaker of the Parliament said at the event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Tbilisi Metro.

As he noted, the Tbilisi Metro, which became operational in 1966, was not merely a transport infrastructure project; it was a symbol of progress, a modern city, and faith in the future.

The Tbilisi Metro, launched in 1966, was not only a transport infrastructure facility. It was a symbol of progress, of a modern city, and of confidence in the future. At a time when Tbilisi was rapidly growing, the metro became a response to the challenges of the era — laying the foundation for a new rhythm of urban movement, labor, education, and culture.

Today, the metro serves millions of passengers. It is a space where the lives of people intersect every day - students, workers, doctors, teachers, and tourists. Each station has its own character, history, and architectural identity, which makes the Tbilisi Metro not only functional, but also a cultural asset.

I would like to extend special gratitude to the people without whose dedication this system could not exist: engineers, builders, train operators, dispatchers, technical staff, and everyone who has served the city with responsibility and professionalism over the years.

Your work is often invisible, but its importance is invaluable. Sixty years is not only a summary of the past; it is also a responsibility toward the future. Modern Tbilisi needs a safe, reliable, environmentally friendly, and development-oriented transport system. I am confident that the Tbilisi Metro will be able to meet these challenges with dignity - through technological modernization, continuous improvement of services, and even greater care for passengers.

The event was attended by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili; Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze; Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze; as well as representatives of the legislative and executive branches of government.

During the event, employees of the Tbilisi Metro were awarded the Order of Honor, and certificates of appreciation were presented to distinguished builders and engineers.
