Traffic will be restricted on certain streets in Tbilisi during the "Alilo" procession

The traditional "Alilo" procession will be held in connection with the Christmas holiday, due to which traffic will be restricted on certain streets of the capital on January 7.

The procession will start from the First Republic Square at 14:00 and will continue until 16:00, during which time vehicles will be able to move using alternative streets.

From Merab Kostava Street, it will be possible to reach Giorgi Akhvlediani and Leo Kiacheli Streets using Vashlovani and Ia Ekaladze Streets. Also, vehicles moving from Revaz Tabukashvili Street in the direction of Merab Kostava Street will be able to move via Rustaveli Avenue instead of the First Republic Square.

Vehicles will be able to travel from the First Republic Square to Freedom Square via Giorgi Leonidze, Pavle Ingorokva, Aleksandre Chavchavadze, Griboedov, Nikoloz Baratashvili and Revaz Tabukashvili streets; from Petre Melikishvili Avenue to the remaining streets of Mtatsminda via Simon Janashia, Ivane Tarkhnishvili, Tamar Chovelidze, Mikheil Zandukeli streets and then via Vasil Barnovi, Iakob Gogebashvili, Maro Makashvili and Dzhembi Kakabadze streets. When returning, drivers will be able to reach Melikishvili Avenue and the area surrounding the Rustaveli metro station via Griboedov, Maro Makashvili, Vasil Barnovi, Mikheil Zandukeli and Akaki Shanidze streets.

Vehicles traveling from the area surrounding the Rustaveli metro station to Freedom Square will be able to move along Rustaveli Avenue in the existing road section up to the intersection of Giorgi Chanturia Street and then using Chanturia Street and the right bank of the Mtkvari River.

From 15:00, for approximately 30 minutes, traffic on Freedom Square will be completely restricted, during which time traffic will be allowed up to the ramp near the Nikoloz Baratashvili Bridge and from the Rustaveli Avenue side to Giorgi Chanturia Street. Traffic will also be restricted from Kote Abkhazi and Shalva Dadiani Streets in the direction of Freedom Square.

At this time, traffic will be allowed up to Giorgi Chanturia Street. Traffic in the direction of Rustaveli Avenue will also be restricted on: Lesia Ukrainka, Archil Jorjadze, Chichinadze, 9 April, Anton Purtseladze and Lado Gudiashvili Streets.

From Freedom Square, the procession will continue in the direction of the Trinity Cathedral, during which traffic will be gradually restricted: on the Baratashvili Bridge, Nikoloz Baratashvili Hill and Avlabari Square.

During the restriction of traffic on Baratashvili Street, vehicles heading towards Freedom Square will be able to move using the right bank of the Mtkvari River and Kote Abkhazi Street, while movement towards Avlabari will be possible via the dry bridge - Kosta Khetagurovi and the left bank of the Mtkvari River.

During the restriction of Avlabari Square, vehicles moving from Ketevan Dedopli Avenue will continue using Bochorma and Yalbuzi Streets, as well as the left bank of the Mtkvari River. In the reverse direction, they will be able to move via the Baratashvili Bridge and the left bank of the Mtkvari River along the same route.

Public transport routes will also be temporarily changed. Specifically, when traveling from First Republic Square to Rustaveli Avenue, transport will move from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to the right bank of the Mtkvari River, from where it will connect to Baratashvili Street.
