Mayor of Tbilisi responds to the detention of Bacho Akhalaia [former Defence Minister under the previous United National Movement Government], stating that any attempt to stage a revolution in the country will not be tolerated.

“Before October 4, a campaign had been ongoing for several months, and these individuals were planning a government overthrow. On Election Day, they began seeking to carry out these plans. However, the relevant state agencies acted according to the law and prevented the attempted coup. An investigation has been launched, yesterday, Bacho Akhalaia was arrested. Let us wait for the results of the investigation.

Before the elections, we issued multiple warnings - both I and the Prime Minister - that no one should take steps that violate the law, because the state acts within the framework of the law, and any attempt to stage a revolution will not be forgiven. Nevertheless, these actions continued. Everyone who commits a crime will be held accountable”, - added Kakha Kaladze.
