Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted his Government`s readiness to reboot its strategic partnership with the US, presenting a clear and concrete plan, while patiently awaiting Washington’s response despite ongoing concerns over unresolved sanctions.
"We say - and I have personally emphasised several times - that we are ready to restore our strategic partnership with the US from a clean slate, with a very clear and concrete plan.
The previous US administration was extremely aggressive toward the Georgian people and Government.
The Biden administration decided to suspend the strategic partnership with Georgia following President Trump`s election, shortly before the inauguration. Once again, it is in our interest to restore the strategic partnership with the US, and we are patiently awaiting their position on this matter. We are optimistic.
Of course, we are somewhat concerned that the sanctions have not been lifted and that there is, generally, a certain silence from the US regarding Georgia. We are somewhat concerned, but still optimistic. Our proposal is on the table. Our proposal is the restoration of the strategic partnership, and we will patiently await their response", - said Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with TRT WORLD.
