A Memorandum of Bilateral Cooperation has been signed between the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) and the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH). The document was signed in Budapest by the Chairman of the GCCA, Irakli Lekvinadze.
The Memorandum underscores the importance of regional cooperation and the joint commitment of both sides to strengthening institutional relations and advancing collaboration in the field of competition policy.
According to Irakli Lekvinadze, the Memorandum establishes a strong foundation for fostering closer partnership and knowledge exchange between Georgia and Hungary in the areas of competition law and policy. He noted that this cooperation will further contribute to the development of fair and competitive markets across the region.
Furthermore, the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH), in cooperation with the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), organized a study visit in Budapest aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and sharing best practices in competition law enforcement. During the visit, the parties discussed key aspects of competition authorities` activities, including online trade and challenges across various business sectors, merger control and enforcement mechanisms, as well as issues related to cartel detection, dawn raids, and behavioural and structural remedies.
Alongside the Chairman of the GCCA, the visit to Budapest was attended by the Head of the Legal Department, Salome Kavtaradze, and the Head of the Strategic Markets Monitoring Department, Giorgi Kedelidze.
