Tbilisi Financial Summit will promote regional cooperation in the development of financial services, enabling Georgia to become a hub for financial technologies - Prime Minister

Government of Georgia, the National Bank are actively promoting increased competition in the financial sector, expanding access to financial services, introducing innovative products and developing financial technologies, said the Prime Minister of Georgia in his keynote speech delivered today at the opening of the Tbilisi Financial Summit.

“The introduction of digital services and technological innovations in the financial sector offers consumers modern, fast and secure services. At the same time, access to finance is increasing, which encourages additional investments, the expansion of local businesses and the creation of new jobs. The Tbilisi Financial Summit will promote regional cooperation in the development of financial services, enabling Georgia to become a hub for financial technologies. This will also help attract additional investment to the countries of the Middle Corridor, boost economic growth and strengthen and simplify the flow of trade cargo in the region”, - added Irakli Kobakhidze.

At the opening of the Tbilisi Financial Summit, speeches were also delivered by Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank; Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament; Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy. This year, Tbilisi is hosting the Financial Summit for the 1st time in parallel with Silk Road Forum. The event, co-organized by Singapore-based Global Finance & Technology Network, brings together heads of central banks from the region, leaders of the global financial industry, representatives of Georgian business sector.
