Georgia was close to the European way, but for the moment, I say that they take a distance, Luxembourg`s Foreign Minister, Xavier Bettel, said this ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
"This is a pity, because of the Georgian people. And I also heard that the elections were difficult. I`m not a member of any council or body that controls, but I hear that people are fully unhappy for the moment. If the elections were right, we have to respect the result.
If the elections were not right, we need to be able to see what is possible to do. But for me, for the moment, Georgia has taken the European future. At the same time, for the moment, there is no evidence that the elections were not fair, but if that`s the case, we need to discuss this. And the second, it is a pity is they go far away from Europe. They were close to Europe", - said Xavier Bettel.
The EU Foreign Affairs Council has begun its session, which includes discussion of Georgia.
