IPRM meeting is underway in Ergneti

The meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) is underway in Ergneti. It is co-facilitation by the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia and the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

The participants will discuss the incidents that have happened at the dividing line since the previous meeting, the facts of illegal borderization and detentions. At present, 11 Georgian citizens remain illegally detained in the Tskhinvali prison.

According to Irakli Antadze, Deputy Head of the Analytical Department of the State Security Service, 7 new cases of illegal detention and 8 cases of borderization were recorded along the occupation line during the reporting period.

In addition to security, the parties will also discuss humanitarian issues.

Meetings in the IPRM format are held within the framework of the Geneva Discussions on Security in the Caucasus. Representatives of Tskhinvali, Russia, Georgia, the European Union and the OSCE take part in the dialogue.
