Prime Minister of Georgia visits the Mtskheta Museum

Prime Minister of Georgia visited the Mtskheta Museum together with Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze.

Irakli Kobakhidze was briefed about the new concept of the museum by David Lordkipanidze, Director General of the Georgian National Museum.

According to the concept, the museum exhibits archaeological material from the ancient period, presents samples from the Christian era in digital form and displays archival materials related to the archaeological study of Mtskheta.

At this stage, in line with the concept, work is underway to set up the museum"s systems, process the collections and select museum staff.

The Mtskheta Museum now incorporates the archaeological bases of Armazi and Ksani, where rich archaeological material is preserved. The museum is equipped with a laboratory necessary for processing materials obtained in the field, as well as for restoration and conservation.

The exhibition spaces will gradually be expanded with materials related to Mtskheta that are preserved in the funds of the National Museum. The Prime Minister of Georgia was accompanied at the Mtskheta Museum by representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities.
