Shalva Papuashvili meets with the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Elisa Spiropali.

Papuashvili extended his congratulations to Spiropali on the outcome of her party’s election victory. The two counterparts engaged in a discussion on the state of Georgia-Albania relations.

The shared aspiration of both nations to join the European Union was underscored as a robust foundation for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and dynamic exchanges within the Balkan region. At this juncture, the role of parliamentary diplomacy was deemed essential.

The parties expressed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary ties and agreed on the establishment of the Friendship Groups.

The two Speakers reviewed the integration plans of their respective countries within the European Union and emphasised the importance of exchanging experiences. Spiropali stated that Abania supports the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia. She invited Papuashvili on an official visit to Albania. The meeting was held within the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva. Speaker Papuashvili is accompanied in his visit by the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze.
