Even imprisoned politicians can participate in the elections, they can run for office and prove the trust of the Georgian public. Such a statement the Prime Minister of georgia made in the interview with Imedi LIVE.
"The right to participate in elections remains for imprisoned politicians. Of course, the possibility of conducting a campaign is limited in conditions of imprisonment, but in general there was speculation about this, and therefore I clarify that imprisoned politicians can also participate in the elections.
They can run for office in the elections and verify the trust of the Georgian society. There is such a practice that when a person is in prison, sympathy for him may increase, let`s check it. However, look at the sympathy for these politicians, they could not bring 2,000 people to the rally. Four parties, 40 NGOs and the “Deep State”, foreign bureaucracy and officials, all banded together and could not gather more than 2,000 people on Rustaveli Avenue. Zero compassion, so whether they are in prison or out of prison, these people have no chance of success. Let no one blame imprisonment for the complete political fiasco they have faced", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
