The Prime Minister of Georgia addressed the recent detention of 18 major drug dealers and thanked the Minister of Internal Affairs for the successful special operation.
"When Geka Geladze was appointed as Minister of Internal Affairs, we agreed that the fight against drug-related crime would become one of the top priorities and the Minister has been executing this mission with great success. It has been less than a month since his appointment and during this time, he has already overseen the seizure of an unprecedented 300 kilograms of heroin. Today, 18 major drug dealers were apprehended. I would like to thank Minister Geka Geladze, as well as First Deputy Minister Roni Meskhi, and all police officers and Special Forces involved in the operation for its exemplary planning and execution. The Government of Georgia will remain uncompromising in the fight against drug crimes and drug dealers. We will not allow anyone the opportunity to poison our citizens - especially our youth", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
He added that firm measures to combat drug-related crime will continue, including significant amendments to Georgia`s legislation.
