Former member of the United National Movement [UNM], Kote Ioseliani, has been summoned for questioning at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The summons is likely connected to the recent statement made by his wife, Tina Bokuchava, Chairperson of the UNM. As she said, her husband was abducted and forced to release a video apology to Uta Ivanishvili, son of Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, for 2018 claims.
“A statement about Uta Ivanishvili was made 7 years ago, for which Kote had already publicly apologized a few days after making it, cannot be the real reason for his violent abduction yesterday. This is only a pretext. The real goal is to intimidate and silence me.
Five masked individuals ambushed my husband at night, forced him into a car, blindfolded him, and took him to an unknown building, where he was held for 8 hours. During that time, the assailants threatened to harm his children and pointed out his daily routes and the locations of his 10-year-old son’s school and his 2-year-old twins’ kindergarten. I tried to contact my husband, but he was not allowed to use his phone. The abduction and threats forced my husband to apologize to Uta Ivanishvili for his 2018 remarks for the second time. But I am not afraid. I will not stay silent”, - said Tina Bokuchava.
