Violent extremism bears the same face in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, and Tbilisi, writes Speaker of the Parliament on his Facebook page.

“The mask conceals the perpetrators’ identities in the same manner; the Molotov cocktail sets police ablaze similarly, and firecrackers damage people and property alike. Fighting violence and extremism and distancing ourselves from them, are not only European values but also marks of a civilized society.

The state exists to protect its citizens from those who violate their rights, property, and dignity. When you oppose the police or courts that work to prevent violence, you are, in effect, siding with violence. Rejecting violence is the minimum that a civilized society should be able to do. Yet, instead of distancing itself, we see Brussels and some European governments supporting, inciting, and funding extremism in Georgia. The truth only comes to light when the defenders of extremism are forced to answer for violence in their own countries”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
