Georgia has endured four wars in the past 35 years, so we deeply understand the value of peace - Kobakhidze

Georgia has endured four wars in the past 35 years, so we deeply understand the value of peace. Such a statement the Prime Minister of the country made in his speech at the Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.

“We are doing everything possible to strengthen and maintain peace in our country - and we are doing it quite successfully. Despite significant pressure in recent years, the government has not only preserved peace domestically but has also consistently contributed to peace across the region. This is vital for our continued development.

This forum is a significant event for our country, and we are honored to host high-level guests for the fourteenth time. The theme of this year’s conference - “The Role of Peace in Sustainable Socio-Economic Development” - is particularly relevant, both for Georgia and globally.

Our broader region faces various challenges, yet Georgia has consistently played a constructive role in promoting peace and, as a result, advancing sustainable socio-economic growth. Today’s world faces serious threats, especially to peace. We are witnessing ongoing military conflicts in our wider region, including a large-scale war. In such times, it is more important than ever to emphasize and discuss the value of peace”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
