Shalva Papuashvili nominated Giorgi Gabitashvili for the position of Auditor General

Giorgi Gabitashvili, who previously served as Prosecutor General, has been nominated for the position of Auditor General by the Speaker of the Parliament.

"Yesterday, Tsotne Kavlashvili informed me of his resignation from the position of Auditor General. He is returning to his previous role as Deputy Minister of Finance, a position he held from 2015 to 2022. Additionally, from 2013 to 2022, he served as Head of the State Treasury.

After consulting with the teams and Mr. Gabitashvili, the decision was made to nominate him for the position.

Gabitashvili has extensive experience within Georgia’s investigative system, having worked for the Prosecutor`s Office and the Ministry of Finance. Since 2013, he has served as Deputy Prosecutor General, and as of 2024, he holds the position of Prosecutor General. I am sure that Gabitashvili`s election as Auditor General would significantly strengthen the State Audit Office and help achieve the goals set forth to the Georgian people before the elections - goals that garnered the public`s mandate", - said Shalva Papuashvili.
