Mayor of Tbilisi responded to recent criticism from some members of the European Parliament, stating that certain European bureaucrats were frustrated because they had failed to bring their political allies to power in Georgia.
"We understand the motivation behind these kinds of statements. This is not the first time we"ve heard such rhetoric - neither for us nor for the Georgian public. Some European bureaucrats effectively lost in Georgia`s political arena. They criticised the transparency law, calling it undemocratic, while at the same time in Brussels they discuss the need for similar legislation themselves.
In recent years, there have been several attempts at a coup and toppling the Government. These efforts were financed from abroad. These actors had - and still have - their patrons who want regime change in Georgia. Why? Because we have a patriotic Government that defends the people`s interests, and that`s what they don`t like", - said Kakha Kaladze.
