Prime Minister of Georgia visited the newly rehabilitated Samgori Park together with Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi and Tinatin Rukhadze, Minister of Culture and Sports where a statue of Erekle II will be installed.

Irakli Kobakhidze reviewed the completed works in the park, which were carried out by the Urban Environment Protection Service of the Municipality. The unveiling of the statue of Erekle II, created based on a design by Merab Merabishvili, is scheduled for the fall of 2025 in the newly renovated park.

“Erekle II is a symbol of heroism, patriotism, pragmatism and dedication. It is very significant that the capital will have a statue of Erekle II. Immortalizing him is the duty of each of us and this statue will contribute to that effort. A very important recreational space is being developed in Tbilisi. During Kakha Kaladze’s tenure as mayor, our capital has become greener and even more beautiful, and of course, this must continue. We need development and this project is yet another example of our country’s progress”, - stated Irakli Kobakhidze.

As part of the rehabilitation of the park located on Kakheti Highway in Isani District of Tbilisi, 2 hectares of land were developed, featuring walking paths, a sports field, an amphitheater, children’s playgrounds and areas for rest. The cost of the project amounted to 5 million GEL.
