In the II quarter of 2026, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the volume of business sector turnover increased by 11.9% and amounted to 67.5 billion GEL, reads the report of GeoStat.

The increase was observed in the production value of the business sector as well. In the II quarter of 2026, production value equaled 25.7 billion GEL, which is 10.7 percent more year-on-year.

In the II quarter of 2026, large businesses generated 69.8% of total turnover, while medium size businesses generated 11.6%, and 18.6% was generated by small businesses.

A distribution was different in case of total production value: 48.6% - large businesses, 23.6% - medium, and 27.8% - small businesses.

In the II quarter of 2026, total purchases of goods and services carried out by enterprises equaled 32.5 billion GEL (YoY 4.9% more), while the purchase of goods and services for resale amounted to 19.4 billion GEL (YoY 9.3% more). In the II quarter of 2026, the average number of persons employed in business sector equaled 828.4 thousand, which is YoY 4.1% more. Out of the total number of persons employed, 43.8% were female and 56.2% were male.

Large businesses employed 42.6% of total number of persons, while 19.7% were employed by medium, and 37.7% - by small businesses. The total number of employees amounted to 768.6 thousand (YoY 3.1% more) and the total personnel costs of enterprises equaled 5 827.3 million GEL (YoY 10.3% more).

In the II quarter of 2026, average monthly remuneration of employees equaled 2 471.5 GEL (153.8 GEL increase YoY), while remuneration specifically for women employees was 1 944.9 GEL (161.4 GEL increase YoY). Average monthly remuneration by size of enterprises was as follows:

---Large business - 2 622.8 GEL;
--- Medium size business - 2 918.9 GEL;
--- Small business - 1 972.3 GEL.

In the II quarter of 2026, the arts, entertainment and recreation had the highest share (36.5%) in the total turnover in business sector, followed by trade sector (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) with 32.4% share, manufacturing – with 8.1%, transportation and storage – with 4.8%, construction – with 4.8%, information and communication – with 3.4%, and other sectors – with 10% share.

In the II quarter of 2026, manufacturing (20.5%), trade (18%), construction (14.4%), transportation and storage (9.8%) and information and communication (8.9%) held the top five places in business sector by production value. The rest of the sectors had 28.4% share combined.

In the II quarter, 2026, trade (wholesale-retail trade; repair of motor vehicles-motorcycles), manufacturing, human health, social work activities led business sector by number of employed persons with 29.5%, 11.3%, 9.1% shares, respectively. Enterprises engaged in transportation/storage (8.1%), construction activities (7.6%), information/communication (6.4%), and accommodation/food service activities (5.7%) also had a significant share though.
