“Any type of association with violent oppressors, murderers, torturers, racketeers pushing business around, and those seizing TV stations and initiating wars undermines Georgian society"s trust in European bureaucracy, a major source of our concern.

Similar false claims are floating around to assert that Georgia’s authorities put the process of European integration on hold. Since the very first statement, and over these past few days, we have stated and continue to state clearly that, on the contrary, we not only continue the process of European integration, but also step up our efforts toward ensuring Georgia’s EU membership in 2030.

In light of the foregoing, it is embarrassing and appalling that the EU Ambassador is now also engaged in the disinformation campaign conducted by the radical opposition and its subordinate NGOs or media outlets. Naturally, this also seriously erodes the Georgian public’s trust in European bureaucracy. I want to remind the EU ambassador: put the opening of negotiations on the table, and I will sign it right away. Deeds instead of blackmail-this is our attitude toward this matter, and we expect a similarly dignified attitude from European structures, as demanded by Georgian society”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
