The Constitutional Court of Georgia, as one of the fundamental pillars of Georgia`s constitutional order, plays a crucial role in strengthening Georgia`s statehood and developing Georgian constitutionalism. The Prime Minister of Georgia said during his speech at the international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.
According he noted, the 30-year history of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, much like the history of Georgian constitutionalism itself, has been full of numerous challenges.
"I congratulate you on the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court. The Constitutional Court of Georgia, as one of the fundamental pillars of Georgia`s constitutional order, plays a crucial role in strengthening Georgia's statehood and developing Georgian constitutionalism. The 30-year history of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, just like the history of Georgian constitutionalism, has been full of many difficulties. We can conditionally divide this history into three decades. The first decade was a crucial period for establishing the Constitutional Court of Georgia as a constitutional institution. I would like to thank the first chairmen of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Mr. Avtandil Demetrashvili and Mr. Joni Khetsuriani, as well as each judge of the first generation, who laid the foundation for the formation of the Constitutional Court of Georgia as an independent constitutional institution", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
