An article about Georgia - “Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine Looks to the Future” - has been published in the American publication Grape Collective

A feature article titled “Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine Looks to the Future” has been published in the popular American publication Grape Collective. The article was prepared with the involvement of the National Wine Agency’s U.S. contractor, Glodow Nead Communications.

The author of the article, Lisa Denning, visited Georgia in May this year. As part of a wine tour organized with the support of the National Wine Agency, she and other representatives of the American media participated in the events dedicated to National Wine Day on May 8. They also visited wineries in the regions of Kakheti and Kartli, where they explored both Georgia’s centuries-old winemaking traditions and modern wine production practices.

”In many ways, Georgia’s wine story is still being written. The world’s oldest wine culture may be best understood not by looking backward, but by paying attention to what its winemakers are doing today.” - writes Lisa Denning.

The article places particular emphasis on qvevri wine, the diversity of Georgia’s endemic grape varieties, amber wines, Georgian gastronomy, and the positioning of Georgian wine in international markets. The author notes that the traditional Georgian method of qvevri winemaking was recognized by the UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.

Founded in 2013, Grape Collective is an online publication specializing in wine, gastronomy, and travel. Its primary mission is to introduce readers to wine culture, the stories of winemakers, wine regions, as well as organic, biodynamic, and family-owned wineries.

To promote Georgian wine internationally, increase its visibility, and support the development of wine tourism, the National Wine Agency actively collaborates with leading international media outlets. The Agency’s partners include CNN, CBS, Netflix, The New York Times, Wine Enthusiast, and other influential international publications.
