The bill, which provides for a reduction in speeding fines, is expected to be approved today. The Parliament is working on the amendment under an expedited procedure.

Under the new rules, fines stipulated for minor and moderate speeding will be halved and significantly reduced; however, the most severe sanction for exceptionally high speeding remains in force.

“The presented legislative initiative implies that the existing fines will be reduced, making daily life easier for our citizens. All safety issues that are important in this regard are taken into account here, so that, on the one hand, safety in terms of traffic regulations is protected and, on the other hand, citizens have a certain relief”, - said the first Deputy Chairman of the Parliament’s Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee, Giorgi Chakvetadze.
