Mayor of Tbilisi meets with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy

The Mayor of Tbilisi met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic, Edmondo Cirielli.

The parties discussed close relations existing between Georgia and Italy and the importance of deepening cooperation in various directions.

"I am glad that our countries share friendly relations. You have a very good Ambassador [in Georgia]; thanks for his cooperation and support. Given today`s geopolitical situation, more cooperation with partner countries is important. Georgia has openly declared its European course, yet we see an unfair attitude on this path. We are not fighting anyone; we are only protecting the interests of our country and our population. It is probably redundant to mention that I share a special affection for Italy. I am ready to support the further deepening of relations between our countries in every way", - said Kakha Kaladze.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy thanked the Mayor for the hospitality and emphasized Italy’s readiness to deepen relations between the two countries: "I am glad to meet you. I hope that the partnership between our countries will deepen even further. Italy has supported and will continue to firmly support Georgia’s territorial integrity and its aspirations toward Euro-structures".

The meeting held at the Tbilisi City Hall was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia, Massimiliano D`Antuono.
