Rehabilitation works has begun at the Sioni Cathedral

Tbilisi City Hall is launching a rehabilitation project in Sioni Cathedral. Currently, scaffolding is being erected around the historic structure as part of the preliminary phase.

The cathedral and its bell tower are monuments with the status of cultural heritage. In the current state, the roof of the cathedral and the bell tower are damaged, due to which the incoming precipitation damages the walls and poses a threat to the frescoes in the cathedral.

Accordingly, rehabilitation will be carried out on the mentioned part of the Cathedral. The affected sections of the cathedral will be fully restored.

The project will be carried out by the Tbilisi Development Fund. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October. The total cost of the project is 1,220,000 GEL.
