Trump says he expects a peace deal with Iran “in the next day or two”

President Donald Trump signaled he expects a peace deal with Iran in the coming days, potentially winding down the war with Iran as the administration eyes a second round of talks in Pakistan, writes CNN.

In an interview with Bloomberg News, Trump said peace talks will “likely” be held this weekend. “Most of the main points are finalized. It’ll go pretty quickly”, he told the outlet.

And in an interview with Axios, Trump said he expects an agreement swiftly: “The Iranians want to meet. They want to make a deal. I think a meeting will probably take place over the weekend. I think we will get a deal in the next day or two”.

Iran’s ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, praised efforts from all sides towards “giving diplomacy a chance” as Lebanon and Israel reach a ceasefire and Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz.
