Information on the main areas of the Committee’s activities was heard at the Diaspora Committee

At the Diaspora Committee"s sitting, the Committee Chair, Irakli Zarkua, presented information on the Committee’s main areas of activity.

According to Irakli Zarkua, in 2026, the Committee will continue close cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry. He noted that particular attention will be paid to supporting Sunday schools and grant projects: “Together with the Ministry, it is planned to refine the procedure for granting compatriot status and to improve the work of the relevant commission. We will jointly discuss the analysis of statistical data, existing challenges, and ways to address them”.

He also spoke about the importance of strengthening the role of Georgia’s embassies and consulates abroad and expanding sectoral cooperation with various agencies.

Irakli Zarkua further emphasized the necessity of promoting diaspora investment and entrepreneurship. According to him, it is important to make more effective use of the investment potential of remittances and to ensure the active involvement of diaspora representatives in state programs supporting business development in Georgia.
